TALENT Elabo U19 Team races challenging Tour du Gévaudan Occitanie

The TALENT Elabo U19 Team will race the Tour du Gévaudan Occitanie this weekend, a tough two-day stage race in the south of France. Maud Oudeman, Freja Ann Smith, Norah Minck, Nina Maathuis, Willemijn Prins and Carola van de Wetering will ride our first round of the prestigious Junior Nations’ Cup!

“We left home early Thursday morning and we arrived in Mende today”, says Nina Maathuis. “On Saturday, we race a 16 km loop four times, with a 1,8 km climb with a maximum of 6,2% in every lap. In total, the stage consists of about 1000 altitude metres. The day after we race a 66 km route with two big climbs with a maximum percentage of 20%. You know, easy ;)”

“The past months, we practised our teamwork a lot. This weekend, we really hope to show how well we can ride as a team and that we are there for each other. The pure climbers in our team are tasked to cross the finish line first, the other girls will just give it their absolute utmost to help them achieving this goal!

Sadly, the Tour du Gévaudan Occitanie will not be broadcasted on international TV. However, the French website DirectVélo will have a liveblog up and runningKWZ TV Lozère will also show a lot of the racing at its Facebook page. At the end of this beautiful race weekend, we of course will look back on the race as well!
