#EuroTrack20: Maike van der Duin second in U23 scratch race

A brilliant start to the European U19 and U23 Track Cycling Championships for Maike van der Duin. In the scratch event, the Biehler Krush Pro Cycling rider sprinted to the silver medal.

The scratch in the Velodromo Attilio Pavesi, an outdoor track in the Italian town of Fiorenzuola D’Arda, was a 25 lap event with an average speed of 42,8 km/h.

A sprint decided the outcome of the race. Martina Fidanza turned out to be the first over the line, closely followed by Maike van der Duin.

Another great performance by the young Dutch rider, a first-year elite rider at Biehler Krush Pro Cycling and one of the youngest riders in the race. Van der Duin won the same medal in this spectacular track event at last year’s European Track Championships in the U19 category. Maria Martins won the bronze medal.

This weekend, Van der Duin will also ride the points race and the madison at the U23 European Track Championships.
