Maathuis, who won the prologue of the Watersley Ladies Challenge last year, needed 22’44” to finish the flat 15,8 kilometre long course. Her average speed (41,7 km/h) was only surpassed by Nienke Vinke.
Maathuis was happy with her second-place finish. “I gave everything and I couldn’t have gone faster today. I can only be very glad with the silver medal!”
Stefan van Klink, TALENT Elabo Development Team trainer, was also content with the achieved results. “When Nina finished I thought it could be good for gold, but silver is great too. I am very happy with Nina’s performance.”
